Community Development

ArtWalk is an award-winning neighborhood arts program based on University Avenue in Rochester.  Our NeighborGood grants for block clubs and neighborhood associations helped with some of the early planning. We also underwrote community bagel breakfasts at the corner park.

Rochester Renaissance 2010
The City of Rochester’s award-winning Neighbors Building Neighborhoods helped inspire a broader Renaissance 2010 plan.  A multi-county Stewardship Council, including our President Jennifer Leonard, oversees the plan’s eleven campaigns for improvement. All address one of three central themes: responsibility, opportunity, and community.

Urban Farming
North East Neighborhood Alliance (NENA) has spearheaded numerous changes in the city’s Sector 10. Among them are many community gardens. Local residents who work in the gardens sell the produce at the Public Market on Saturdays. Our NeighborGood grant helped NENA celebrate “home grown music and home grown food” in its third annual Summerfest.

Doing Good in the Neighborhood
NeighborGood is a program of Rochester Area Community Foundation that provides support for City of Rochester neighborhood groups to involve residents in activities to improve the quality of life in their corner of the community.  Since 1994, approximately $400,000 has been granted in small grants ($500 - $2,000) to neighborhood associations, block clubs, business associations, and tenant/landlord associations.

NeighborGood is designed to work in harmony with the City of Rochester's Neighbors Building Neighborhoods planning process.
