Arts & Culture
Sixty lavish costumes helped make the Eastman School of Music's 2006 production of Cendrillon (Cinderella) magical, romantic, and a wonderful introduction to opera for all ages.
Funding provided by the Gouvernet Arts Fund helped to underwrite costumes for the opulent production, rarely staged in America. As Eastman Opera Theatre's main stage production for the 2005-06 season, Cendrillon was a treat for the eyes and ears. The $10,000 grant helped underwrite the cost of renting, shipping, and fitting the costumes.
The Gouvernet Arts Fund supports arts and cultural programs in the greater Rochester area, with a focus on the fine and performing arts.
In 2007, Suzanne Gouvernet received the Champion of the Arts Award from the Arts & Cultural Council for Greater Rochester because of the fund's impact on the arts. In 2009, the Community Foundation recognized Suzanne with a Philanthropy Award for all of the terrific work her philanthropy has accomplished.
