This scholarship was created in memory of Charles J. Churukian, an accomplished histotechnologist and lifelong humanitarian. After earning his bachelor's degree in theology, Charles chose to defer the call to ministry to care for his aging parents. It was during this time that he began to develop an interest in medical histology. Concentrating his efforts in this medical field for more than 54 years, including 40 years supervising the Histochemistry Laboratory in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Rochester Medical Center, Charles never resigned from his giving nature and desire to provide spiritual guidance to others. For this reason and more, family and friends created this scholarship in hopes that Charles Churukian and his accomplishments will live on. To learn more about Dr. Churukian, click here.
